Who Was This Brave Messenger?

Imagine a special messenger named Justus who lived a super long time ago, even before your grandparents were born! He came all the way from a place called Italy to England. His job was to share a new way of believing called Christianity with people who believed in different gods. He was like a superhero of his time, bringing a message of peace and hope to a new land.

A Big Journey to a New Land!

Justus probably arrived in England with a group of other helpers in the year 601. That's so long ago, it's hard to even imagine! He was sent by a very important person named Pope Gregory the Great. His mission was to help the people in England learn about Christianity. It was a big adventure, traveling across the sea to a place where things were very different from his home.

Making Friends and Sharing Ideas

Justus was the very first bishop in a town called Rochester. He was so important that he even signed a letter to other church leaders! This letter asked them to celebrate a special holiday, Easter, on the same day. He wanted everyone to be united in their celebrations. He also traveled to a church meeting in a place called Paris, which is in France today!

A Leader Who Came Back Strong!

Sometimes, things get tough! After a king in England passed away, Justus had to leave England for a little while and go back to France. But guess what? He came back the very next year and became even more important! He became the Archbishop of Canterbury, which is like being the main leader of all the churches in that area. He even helped send more helpers to spread the word even further.
