A Writer Who Loved Words!

Imagine a girl who was so good at reading and writing, people called her a 'child prodigy'! That was Joy Davidman. She loved books and words so much that she went to college and got a special degree when she was only twenty years old. She wrote poems that won big awards, like winning a special contest for young poets. She also wrote amazing stories and books for grown-ups.

From Atheist to Christian

When Joy grew up, she didn't believe in God and even joined a special club called the Communist Party. She got married and had two sons. But her life changed a lot! She started to believe in Christianity and became a Christian. This was a big change for her. After her first marriage ended, she moved all the way from America to England with her sons.

Meeting a Famous Friend

In England, Joy met a very famous writer named C. S. Lewis. He wrote the 'Chronicles of Narnia' books, like 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe'! C. S. Lewis really liked Joy's writing and her new Christian beliefs. They became very good friends, and then they got married! It's like a storybook romance, but it was real life for Joy and C. S. Lewis.

Her Most Famous Book

Joy wrote a book called 'Smoke on the Mountain' that explained the Ten Commandments, which are important rules from the Bible. This book became her most famous work. Sadly, Joy got very sick and passed away when she was only 45 years old. But her stories and poems are still read today, and her life with C. S. Lewis was even made into movies and plays!
