Jokhang: The Heart of Lhasa!

Jokhang is like the most important building in a city called Lhasa, which is way up high in the mountains of Tibet. A long, long time ago, around 640 years after Jesus was born, a king named Songsten Gampo wanted to build something special. He built Jokhang to keep a very special statue of a Buddha. He got this statue from his queen, who came all the way from Nepal!

Later, another queen brought another special statue from China. These statues are still there today, making Jokhang a super-duper important place for people to visit and pray.
