Jamshid Sharmahd

Imagine a person who was really good at making computer programs work, like building with digital LEGOs! That was Jamshid Sharmahd. He was a software engineer who lived in sunny California, in the United States.

He was born a long, long time ago, in 1955. He was also a citizen of Germany. His life was like a storybook, but it had some very serious parts too, involving his connections to a group in Iran.

One day, Jamshid Sharmahd was in Dubai, a busy city far away. Suddenly, in 2020, he disappeared! It was like he was taken away by secret agents. This is called an abduction. He was taken to Iran, a country in the Middle East. This was a very scary and sad event. It was a big deal because he was a German citizen and lived in the United States.

In Iran, Jamshid Sharmahd had a trial, which is like a court case where a judge decides if someone did something wrong. Many people around the world, like big groups called Amnesty International and even countries like Germany and the United States, thought this trial wasn't fair. They were very worried. Despite these worries, he was sentenced to death.

Jamshid Sharmahd was kept all alone in a small room for a long time. This is called solitary confinement. Sadly, on October 28, 2024, his life came to an end. His story is a reminder of how complex and sometimes sad the world can be, and how important it is for people to be treated fairly.
