Jagjivan Ram

Imagine a grown-up who was like a superhero for India! That was Jagjivan Ram, but everyone called him Babuji, which means 'father'. He was a very important leader for a super long time, serving as a minister for more than 30 years.

That's longer than you've been alive, and even longer than your parents have been working! He was so good at his job that he was in charge of important things for India for a really, really long time.

Babuji was born a long, long time ago, in 1908. He cared a lot about making sure everyone was treated fairly. He even helped start a group to make sure all people, especially those who were treated unfairly, were treated like everyone else.

He was also a minister when India was going through big changes, like when it was getting ready to be its own country. He was like a builder, helping to make sure India was strong and fair for everyone.

One of Babuji's biggest jobs was being the Defence Minister during a big fight between India and Pakistan in 1971. He helped make sure India was safe! He also helped farmers grow more food. During a time when there wasn't enough food, he worked hard to make sure everyone had something to eat. This was like making sure everyone at a big picnic had enough yummy snacks!

Babuji was a minister in India's very first government when it became a free country. He made sure that the rules for India, called the Constitution, had important ideas about fairness for everyone. He was so dedicated to helping people that he stayed a minister for so many years, always working to make India a better place. He was a true hero who helped shape the country we know today.
