Jacques Chirac was a very important person in France. He was like the captain of a big ship called France for 12 years, from 1995 to 2007. Before that, he was also the boss of Paris, the capital city, for a super long time, 18 years! He also helped lead France as Prime Minister twice. He loved his country and worked hard to make it better.

His Big Adventures in Politics!

Jacques Chirac started his career by working for the government, like a super helper. Then, he decided to jump into politics to help make big decisions. He tried to become president a couple of times, like trying out for a big sports team!

He wanted to change things, like making taxes lower and making sure people felt safe. He even changed the rules so the president only served for 5 years instead of 7!

One really cool thing Jacques Chirac did was say NO to a big war in a country called Iraq. He thought it was important to try and solve problems with talking, not fighting.
