Isabelle Romée

Imagine a super-mom named Isabelle Romée! She was the mom of the famous Joan of Arc, the brave girl who helped France win big battles. Isabelle grew up in a small village and married a farmer named Jacques. They had a farm with land about as big as 35 soccer fields! Even though Joan became a hero, Isabelle was always her mom, and she loved her very much.

Isabelle and her husband lived a simple life on their farm in a place called Domrémy. They worked hard to grow food and take care of their animals. But then, their daughter Joan started doing incredible things, like leading armies! After Joan's amazing adventures in 1429, the King of France was so impressed that he made Isabelle's whole family special, like a royal family!

When Isabelle was older, around 70 years old (that's like being a grandparent many times over!), she heard that Joan had been wrongly accused. Isabelle was so brave that she went all the way to the Pope, who is like the leader of a whole religion! She asked him to re-open Joan's case. She even stood up in a big church in Paris to speak for her daughter. Wow!

Isabelle's love for Joan was so strong that she didn't give up. She traveled to a new city called Orléans and got a special allowance from the city to help her. Her determination helped clear Joan's name, proving she was innocent. Isabelle Romée shows us that a mother's love is one of the most powerful things in the world, and it can even change history!
