Iran Air Flight 655

Imagine a big airplane, like a giant metal bird, carrying lots of people from one city to another. Iran Air Flight 655 was one of these planes. It was flying from Tehran to Dubai, a popular trip for many.

Sometimes, in confusing situations, people can make mistakes. During a time when there was a war between Iran and Iraq, a big ship from the United States Navy was in the area. The people on the ship thought the airplane was a different kind of fast jet that could be a danger. They fired missiles, but it was the passenger plane!
