INS Vikrant (2013)

INS Vikrant is like a giant floating island that carries airplanes! It's so big, it's longer than three football fields put together. This amazing ship is India's very own aircraft carrier, built right in India! It's named after an older ship called INS Vikrant, and 'Vikrant' means 'courageous' in a special language called Sanskrit. This ship is a true hero of the Indian Navy!

Building INS Vikrant was a huge project that took many years. Imagine building a giant LEGO castle, but way, way bigger and out of metal! The plans started way back in 1999, and they started building the important parts in 2009.

It took a long time to put all the pieces together, like a giant puzzle. Finally, in 2022, it was ready to join the navy and has been practicing flying planes from its deck since 2023!

INS Vikrant is super important because it's the first aircraft carrier ever built in India. This means India can build its own powerful ships to protect its waters. It's like having your own superhero headquarters! The ship has a special motto that means 'I defeat those who dare to challenge me.' It's one of only two aircraft carriers in the Indian Navy, making it a really big deal!

This ship is a city on the water! It has 2,300 rooms, which is more rooms than most apartment buildings! It even has a hospital inside to take care of sailors.
