Where the First Brazilians Live!

Imagine a giant country called Brazil, filled with huge rainforests and long rivers! This is where the Indigenous peoples have lived for thousands and thousands of years, even before anyone else arrived. They call this amazing land home.

They are the original people of Brazil, living in places like the Amazon rainforest, which is so big it's like a giant green blanket covering a huge part of the country.

Stories from Long, Long Ago!

A super long time ago, there were about 2,000 different groups of Indigenous people in Brazil, like different teams with their own special games! They loved to hunt, fish, and gather yummy fruits and plants. They moved around to find the best food. But when explorers came from far away, sadly, many people got sick from new germs and some groups were hurt. It was a very sad time.

Cool Ways of Life!

These first people have awesome traditions! They are super connected to nature and know all about the plants and animals. Many still live in villages and share stories, music, and dances. Some groups are so private, they haven't even met people from the outside world yet! Brazil has more of these 'uncontacted' tribes than any other country on Earth. Wow!

Talking and Learning Today!

Even though many Indigenous people now speak Portuguese, the main language of Brazil, they also speak their own special languages. There are hundreds of them! Today, there are over 1.6 million Indigenous people in Brazil, living in many different groups. They are working hard to keep their cultures and languages alive for everyone to learn from.
