Hyderabad wasn't always here! A long, long time ago, in 1768, a ruler named Mian Ghulam Shah Kalhoro decided this would be a great spot for a new city. He built it and named it after a very important person in history, Prophet Muhammad's grandson, Hazrat Ali.
