Herbert Hoover

Herbert Hoover was the 31st president of the United States, serving from 1929 to 1933. Before becoming president, he was a super smart mining engineer who traveled the world! He was born way back in 1874, a long, long time ago. Imagine a time before cars were everywhere or before you could easily talk to someone far away on a phone. That's the kind of world he grew up in!

Herbert Hoover was a real-life adventurer! He worked as a mining engineer in places like Australia and China. When World War I started, he became a hero by helping to get food to people in Belgium who were starving.

He was so good at organizing things that he was called the 'food dictator' for the United States during the war, making sure everyone had enough to eat. He even helped feed millions in Europe after the war!

When Herbert Hoover became president, he was very excited to help America. But soon after he started, something called the Great Depression happened. It was a very difficult time when many people lost their jobs and money. President Hoover tried to help, but it was a really big challenge. It was like trying to fix a giant, broken toy that everyone was sad about.
