Healy Hall

Healy Hall is a super special building at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. It's like the main star of the campus! It was built a long, long time ago, between 1877 and 1879. That's even before your grandparents were born! This building is so important that it's called a National Historic Landmark. That means it's protected because it's so cool and has a lot of history.

Two clever people named Paul J. Pelz and John L. Smithmeyer designed Healy Hall. They were like architects who drew up the plans for this amazing place. They even helped design another famous building, the Thomas Jefferson Building of the Library of Congress! Healy Hall is named after Patrick Francis Healy, who was the boss, or President, of Georgetown University when it was built.

Healy Hall is still used for important things at Georgetown University today! It's where the main offices are, and sometimes people have special welcome parties there. It also has classrooms where students learn. Inside, there's a library called Riggs Library, which is super rare because it's made of cast iron. There's also a beautiful room called Gaston Hall where big events happen.
