This amazing building is called the Thomas Jefferson Building, and it's the oldest part of the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. It looks like a palace with beautiful decorations inside and out! It was built a long, long time ago, between 1890 and 1897.

This building is named after Thomas Jefferson, who was a very important person in American history. He was the third president and helped write the Declaration of Independence! He also had a HUGE collection of books, over 6,000 of them! In 1815, his books became the start of the Library of Congress.
