Harsha

Imagine a powerful king named Harsha who lived a super long time ago, from the year 590 to 647. He was like the boss of a really big area in northern India. He became king when he was quite young, and he was known for being a great leader. He was also the younger brother of another king, Rajyavardhana. Harsha's kingdom was so big, it was like a giant puzzle piece covering lots of land!

King Harsha made his capital city, Kannauj, super important. His kingdom stretched all the way to the Narmada River, which is like a giant blue ribbon across the land. He was so powerful that his rule was like a giant blanket of peace and fun for many people. He even had a special wall and a moat around his palace, like a real-life castle!

Because Harsha's kingdom was so peaceful and happy, people from all over the world wanted to visit! Imagine travelers coming from far, far away, like from China! One visitor named Xuanzang wrote that Harsha was a very just and generous king. This means Harsha was fair and shared his kindness, which is super important for any leader.

Harsha was so famous that a poet named Banabhatta wrote a whole book about his life, called 'The Life of Harsha'. This book tells us all about Harsha's adventures and how he ruled. It even describes his palace, which had a special white building that was two stories high! It’s like having a biography written about you when you're a kid!
