Gulzarilal Nanda

Gulzarilal Nanda was a very important person in India, born a long, long time ago in 1898. He was super smart and loved learning about how people worked together, especially in jobs. He was also a politician, which means he helped make rules for the country. He was so good at his job that people trusted him with big responsibilities.

Guess what? Mr. Nanda was like a substitute teacher for the whole country of India! When the main leader, the Prime Minister, sadly passed away, Mr. Nanda stepped in to lead for a little while. This happened two times! He was in charge for 13 days each time, making sure everything kept running smoothly until a new leader was chosen.

Because Mr. Nanda did such a great job helping India, he received a very special award called the Bharat Ratna. It's like getting the biggest, shiniest gold star in India! He got this award when he was very, very old, almost 100 years old. It shows everyone how much they appreciated his hard work and dedication to his country.
