Grenoble

Grenoble is a super cool city in France, a country far away in Europe! It’s like a big, friendly hug from the French Alps, which are giant, snowy mountains. The city sits right where two rivers, the Drac and the Isère, like to play together.

Because it’s so close to these amazing mountains, Grenoble is known as the 'Capital of the Alps'! It’s a place where you can see tall peaks from almost anywhere.

Grenoble is super old, like over 2,000 years old! It started as a small village for a tribe called the Allobroges. Later, it became a very important city, like the boss of a big area called Dauphiné.

Over many years, Grenoble grew and grew. It was a busy place for making gloves, then for making electricity from water, and even hosted the Winter Olympics! It’s a city that has seen a lot of history.

Guess what? Grenoble is a city full of super smart people who love science and inventing new things! One out of every five people there works in science or technology. They even won an award for being a 'European Green Capital' because they care a lot about nature. And remember those Winter Olympics? They happened in Grenoble in 1968, where athletes from all over the world came to ski and play!

Grenoble is a big city with lots of people living there, almost as many as in a very large town! It’s the biggest city in the whole Alps region, even bigger than some other famous mountain cities. People in Grenoble love being outside, hiking in the mountains, or skiing in the winter.
