London's Super Special Spot!

Imagine a place in London, England, that's super important. That's Greenwich! It's like a special treasure chest filled with amazing stories. It's not too far from the big city center, about the length of 10 football fields away. Greenwich is right by a big river, which made it perfect for ships a long, long time ago. It's a place where history and fun meet!

Royal Homes and Royal Babies!

Once upon a time, Greenwich had a giant palace called the Palace of Placentia. It was so grand! Two very famous kings and queens, Henry VIII and Elizabeth I, were born there. Can you imagine being born in a royal palace? Later, this palace wasn't used anymore, but a new building was made for brave sailors. It looked like a giant castle and is still there today!

The Line That Divides the World!

Greenwich has a super cool secret: it's home to the Prime Meridian! This is an imaginary line that goes from the very top of the Earth to the very bottom, right through Greenwich. It's like drawing a line down the middle of a giant orange. This line helps us know what time it is all over the world. It's called Greenwich Mean Time, or GMT!

Ships, Museums, and Learning!

Greenwich loves ships! You can see famous old boats like the Cutty Sark, which looks like a giant sailing ship from a storybook. There's also a fantastic museum all about ships and the sea, called the National Maritime Museum. Plus, some of the old sailor buildings are now used by students who learn music and dance. It's a place buzzing with learning and adventure!
