Grassland

A grassland is like a huge carpet made of grasses! It's a special home for plants and animals where grass is the boss. You can find these grassy places all over the world, except for the super cold place called Antarctica. They are so big, they cover almost a third of all the land on our planet. Think of it as Earth's biggest grassy park!

Lots of animals love grasslands because there's so much to eat and room to run! You might find speedy cheetahs chasing gazelles, or big herds of zebras munching on grass. There are also smaller critters like prairie dogs popping out of their burrows. These animals have to be good at hiding or running fast to stay safe in the wide-open spaces.

Grasslands are like the Earth's pantry! They help feed many animals, and they also help keep our air clean by soaking up carbon dioxide. Plus, they are super important for farming, where we grow yummy grains like wheat and corn. So, these grassy lands are not just pretty, they help us and many creatures live!

Not all grasslands are exactly the same. Some are natural, meaning they grew all by themselves. Others are semi-natural, which means people helped them grow a bit. And then there are agricultural grasslands, which are like big farms where we grow grass for animals to eat or for crops like wheat. They all look a bit different but are all amazing grassy places!
