Who's in Charge Here?

Imagine Canada is like a giant playground, and the Government of Canada is the team that makes sure everyone plays fair and safe! They are like the grown-ups who help organize games and make sure all the rules are followed. This team is made up of many people working together in different jobs, like making sure schools are good places to learn or that roads are safe to travel on.

They are all part of a big team called His Majesty's Government. It's a very important job to help run a whole country!

The King and His Helpers

The boss of Canada is the King, who lives far away! But he has a special helper in Canada called the Governor General. The most important helper in Canada is the Prime Minister.

They are like the captain of a sports team. The Prime Minister picks other helpers, called ministers, to look after different things, like schools or parks. Together, they all make big decisions for Canada.

It's like a big family working together to make Canada a great place.

Making the Rules!

How do rules get made? Well, there's a special place called Parliament where people talk about new ideas for rules. These ideas are called bills.

If most people in Parliament agree that a bill is a good idea, it gets sent to the King's helper, who says 'yes!' and then it becomes a real law that everyone follows. The government then makes sure these laws are followed, like making sure everyone stops at red lights. It's a careful process to make sure laws are fair for everyone.

Lots and Lots of Helpers!

Did you know there are over 100 different groups, called departments and agencies, that help the government? And there are more than 300,000 people who work for the government! That's more people than can fit in a very, very big stadium!

These people do all sorts of jobs, from helping people who are sick to making sure our mail gets delivered. They are all working hard to make Canada a wonderful country for everyone to live in.
