Meet the King of the Skies!

Imagine a bird so big its wings can stretch as wide as a small car! That's the Golden Eagle! These amazing birds have sharp talons, like tiny grappling hooks, to grab their food. Their eyes are super powerful, letting them spot a tiny mouse from way up high. They are masters of the sky, gliding on air currents without even flapping their wings!

Where Do Golden Eagles Hang Out?

Golden Eagles love wide-open spaces where they can see for miles. You can find them in rocky mountains, open fields, and even deserts! They build their nests, called eyries, on high cliffs or tall trees. These nests are huge, sometimes as big as a small bed, and they use them for many years. They live all over the Northern Hemisphere, from North America to Europe and Asia.

What's for Dinner?

Golden Eagles are carnivores, which means they eat meat! Their favorite meals are small mammals like rabbits and squirrels, but they can also catch birds and even snakes. They are very patient hunters, often watching from a high perch before swooping down with incredible speed.

Their sharp beaks are perfect for tearing their food. They are also known to eat carrion, which is meat from animals that have already died.

Golden Eagle Superpowers!

Did you know Golden Eagles have incredible eyesight? It's about four to eight times better than ours! They can see a tiny bug from over a mile away. They are also very strong, able to carry prey that weighs almost as much as they do! These birds can live for a long time, sometimes up to 20 years in the wild, which is longer than many pet cats or dogs!
