Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina was a super talented composer who lived a long, long time ago, between 1525 and 1526. That’s almost 500 years ago! He was born in a town called Palestrina in Italy.
He loved music so much that he moved to Rome as a kid to study it. He became so good that he even worked at the famous St. Peter's Basilica, where the Pope lives!
He wrote lots and lots of music, mostly for churches.
