Gilda Radner

Imagine a comedian who could make you laugh until your tummy hurt! That was Gilda Radner. She was one of the very first stars on a TV show called Saturday Night Live, which started way back in 1975.

Gilda played so many silly characters, like Emily Litella, who always seemed a little confused, and Roseanne Roseannadanna, who told funny, weird stories. She was so good, she even won a special award called an Emmy!

Gilda was a master of disguise and voices! She could transform into different people with just a wig and a funny voice. One of her most famous characters was Emily Litella, an elderly lady who often got things mixed up.

Another was Roseanne Roseannadanna, who would give advice but then go off on a wild, silly tangent. Gilda's characters were so popular, she even had her own show and movie where she got to be all her funny friends!

Gilda Radner was a true star! After Saturday Night Live, she acted in movies and plays. She even met her husband, Gene Wilder, who was also a famous actor.

Gilda's life wasn't always easy, though. She got sick with a disease called ovarian cancer. But even when she was sick, she was brave and wrote a book about her life.

She wanted to help others, and her book helped people learn more about fighting cancer.

Even though Gilda Radner isn't with us anymore, her laughter and jokes live on! She won another award after she passed away, called a Grammy. She also has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, like many other famous actors. Comedians today still think Gilda was amazing and try to be as funny as she was. She showed everyone that making people laugh is a very special gift!
