Gandaki River

Imagine a river so big it's like a watery highway for a whole country! That's the Gandaki River, also called Narayani or Gandak. It starts way up high in the snowy Himalayas, the tallest mountains in the world.

This amazing river has different names depending on where you are! In the high mountains of Nepal, it's called the Kali Gandaki. When it flows out onto the flatter lands of Nepal, it gets a new name: Narayani. Once it crosses the border into India, it’s known as the Gandak.
