Where is This Giant?

Annapurna is a super-duper tall mountain in a country called Nepal. It's part of a huge mountain family called the Annapurna mountain range. Think of it like a giant sleeping in the sky! It's so high up that the air is very thin, and it's always cold, even in summer. Snow covers its top all year round, like a giant white hat!

The First Climbers!

A long, long time ago, in 1950, a brave group of people from France decided to climb Annapurna. It was super hard and dangerous, but they did it! They were the very first people to ever climb to the top of such a giant mountain. It was like winning a huge prize! This mountain is famous because it was the first of these super-tall mountains to be climbed.

A Special Protected Place

Guess what? The whole area around Annapurna is a special park called the Annapurna Conservation Area. It's like a giant nature playground that's bigger than many cities! This park helps protect all the amazing plants and animals that live there. People love to walk on trails called treks, like the Annapurna Sanctuary and Annapurna Circuit, to see the incredible views.

Is it Dangerous?

Annapurna is very, very tall and steep, which makes climbing it super tricky. Sometimes, big chunks of snow and ice can fall down, which is called an avalanche. The weather can change really fast, too! Even though many people have reached the top, some have also gotten hurt. It's a place that needs a lot of respect and careful planning for anyone who visits.
