Frédéric François Chopin (born Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin) emerged from Żelazowa Wola, Poland, in 1810, to become one of history's most revered composers and pianists. However, the political climate of Congress Poland, which had become part of the Russian Empire, prompted his departure at age 20, just before the November 1830 Uprising.
