François Duvalier

François Duvalier, also known as 'Papa Doc,' was a doctor who became the leader of Haiti. He was born in 1907 and ruled Haiti for a very long time, from 1957 until he passed away in 1971. Imagine a president staying in charge for 14 years!

He wanted to make Haiti strong and independent, but his time as leader was also a bit scary for many people. He was a doctor before he became a president, which is an interesting change!
