The Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms Time!

After a big empire called the Tang Dynasty ended, China got a bit messy! For about 50 years, from 907 to 960 AD, it was like a game of musical chairs for rulers. Five different families, called Dynasties, took turns being in charge in the north.

But down south, ten smaller kingdoms, called the Ten Kingdoms, also had their own kings! It was a time of many rulers, big and small, all trying to lead their part of China.
