Fire lookout tower

Imagine a super tall house on stilts, way up high! That's a fire lookout tower. These towers are built on mountains or hills so people called 'fire lookouts' can see for miles and miles. They have a special room at the very top, like a cozy nest, where the lookout sits and watches the forest. It's like having the best view in the whole world, all day long!

Fire lookouts are like forest superheroes! Their job is to be the first to see if a wildfire starts. They look for tiny puffs of smoke that might be a fire. If they see one, they use a special tool to figure out exactly where it is. Then, they quickly tell the firefighters so they can rush to put out the fire before it gets too big. It's super important work!

These towers aren't just for spotting fires. The lookouts also watch the weather! They can see if a big storm is coming or if it's getting very dry, which makes fires more likely.
