Ferdinand Marcos

Ferdinand Marcos was a leader in the Philippines, a country with beautiful islands. He was born a long, long time ago, on September 11, 1917. He became president and stayed in charge for many years, longer than any other president! He was a lawyer and a politician, which means he worked with laws and government. But his time as leader wasn't always happy for everyone in the Philippines.

When Ferdinand Marcos was younger, he said he was a super brave hero in World War II. He claimed to be the most decorated hero in the Philippines! But some important documents from the US Army said his stories weren't true and were even 'absurd.' It's like saying you can fly when you can't! After the war, he became a lawyer and then a politician, working his way up to become president.

As president, Marcos started many building projects, like roads and bridges, which made him popular at first. But he also borrowed a lot of money from other countries. This made things difficult for many people, and some became very poor. He also made big changes to how the country was run, taking more power for himself. This made some people very unhappy.

Because many people were unhappy with how things were going, they protested. In 1986, a big event called the People Power Revolution happened. It was a peaceful protest where lots of people came together.

Because of this, Ferdinand Marcos had to leave the Philippines with his family. He went to a place called Hawaii and passed away in 1989. His story shows how important it is for leaders to be honest and fair.
