Fun Fact
Farouk was the last king of Egypt before it became a republic.

King of the Nile!

Imagine a land where a king ruled, like in a fairy tale! Farouk was the king of Egypt, a country famous for its mighty Nile River and ancient pyramids. He was the tenth ruler from a special royal family called the Muhammad Ali dynasty. He became king when he was just a teenager, taking over from his dad, King Fuad I. Egypt is a place full of history, sunshine, and amazing sights!

A Royal Life, A Royal Party!

King Farouk loved to have fun! He was known for having a very exciting and sometimes wild lifestyle, like a big, never-ending party. He had fancy clothes and loved to play. But sometimes, when leaders focus too much on fun, things at home don't get done. His government wasn't always the best, and people started to get unhappy with how things were run.

Uh Oh, The Crown Comes Off!

Even though he was a king, Farouk's reign didn't last forever. In 1952, something big happened called a military coup. This is when soldiers take over the government. Farouk was told he had to leave his throne. He had to give his crown to his very young son, who became King Fuad II. Farouk then went to live in another country, far away from Egypt.

Farouk's Family Tree

Kings and queens often have brothers and sisters, just like you! Farouk had a sister named Princess Fawzia. She was very special because she married the Shah of Iran, who was like the king of another country called Iran. So, Farouk's family was connected to other royal families in faraway lands. It shows how important royal families were a long time ago!
