Where is This Cool Place?

Equatorial Guinea is a country way over in Africa, on the west coast! It's like two parts: one is a big piece of land, and the other is made of islands floating in the ocean. The big land part is bordered by Cameroon and Gabon, like neighbors.

The islands are in the Gulf of Guinea. It's called Equatorial Guinea because it's right near the Equator, the imaginary line that goes around the middle of the Earth!

Who Lives There?

Lots of people live in Equatorial Guinea! Most of them are from a group called the Fang people. There's also another group called the Bubi people who are originally from one of the islands. Long, long ago, even before written history, people called Pygmies lived there. Later, explorers from Portugal and Spain came to visit and explore.

A Country with a Big Story!

This country used to be a colony called Spanish Guinea. That means Spain was in charge for a long time. Then, in 1968, it became its own country! It has had some tough times, with leaders who made big changes. One leader was in charge for a very long time, and now his nephew is the president. It's a country with a lot of history packed into it!

Amazing Nature and Treasures!

Equatorial Guinea is super rich in oil, which is like black gold! This makes it one of the richest countries in Africa, but the money isn't shared equally. The country also has beautiful nature, with islands and forests. It's the only country in Africa where Spanish is an official language, which is pretty special!
