Key Facts
Hooray for Our Home!
Imagine our Earth as a giant, beautiful playground! Earth Day is a super fun day every year, on April 22nd, when we all get together to show our planet some love. It's like giving Earth a big hug and promising to take care of it. People all over the world celebrate by doing nice things for nature, like planting trees or cleaning up parks. It’s a day to remember how special our home is!
Where Did This Awesome Idea Come From?
A long, long time ago, in 1970, a smart person named Senator Gaylord Nelson had a brilliant idea. He wanted everyone to learn about taking care of the Earth. So, he organized a big day for people all across America to learn and do good things for nature.
It was so popular that soon, people in other countries wanted to join in too! Now, billions of people in almost every country celebrate Earth Day.
Why Earth Day is a BIG Deal!
Our Earth gives us everything we need: clean air to breathe, yummy food to eat, and beautiful places to explore. But sometimes, our planet needs our help! Earth Day reminds us that we need to protect our oceans, forests, and animals. When we help the Earth, we help ourselves and all the creatures that live here. It’s like making sure our playground stays clean and safe for everyone to enjoy!
Let's Be Earth Heroes!
There are so many cool ways to be an Earth hero! You can help by recycling your trash, saving water by taking shorter showers, or turning off lights when you leave a room. Planting a flower or a tree is also a fantastic way to help.
Even small actions can make a huge difference when lots of people do them together. So, on Earth Day, let's all try our best to be super helpers for our amazing planet!
