Dupplin Cross

The Dupplin Cross is a super old stone cross that's about as tall as a small car. It was made by people called Picts a very, very long time ago, around the year 800 AD. That's even older than your grandparents' grandparents! It's covered in cool carvings of animals, people fighting, and even a man playing a harp. It's like a giant, ancient comic book made of stone!

This amazing cross was found standing on a hill in a place called Strathearn. For a long time, people didn't know exactly where it came from, but they knew it was special. Now, it's kept safe inside a church tower so everyone can see it and learn from it. It's like a treasure that we protect!

The Dupplin Cross is special because it has writing on it! We can read a name that tells us it was probably made for a king named Caustantín. This helps us know exactly when it was made, which is super important for learning about the Picts. It also shows us that people back then spoke a language called Gaelic, even when writing in Latin!
