Dick Turpin was a real person who lived a long, long time ago in England. People remember him because he was known as a highwayman. This means he used to ride on the roads and sometimes took things from travelers. He was also a bit of a trickster and a thief. Before becoming a highwayman, Dick Turpin might have worked as a butcher, just like his dad. But then he joined a group of people who were stealing deer from the forest. Later, he became known for stealing horses, breaking into houses, and even hurting people. He was caught and put in prison for stealing horses.
