Croatia

Croatia is a country in Europe, right by the big, blue Adriatic Sea. It's like a puzzle piece nestled between other countries. To the north and east are Hungary and Serbia, and to the south are Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.

Italy is across the sea to the west. Its biggest and busiest city is called Zagreb, where lots of people live and work. Croatia is about the size of the state of West Virginia in the USA, with millions of people calling it home.

A super long time ago, people called Croats came to this land. They were very organized and soon had their own leaders. By the year 925, Croatia had its very first king!

Imagine kings and queens ruling from grand castles. Over many years, Croatia became part of bigger kingdoms, but its people always remembered their own special history. In 1991, Croatia became its own independent country again, which is something to celebrate!

Croatia has over a thousand islands, like little jewels scattered in the sea! Many people visit Croatia because it's so beautiful. They love to swim in the clear water, explore old towns with stone streets, and see amazing waterfalls.

Croatia is also famous for its delicious food, like fresh seafood and tasty pastries. It's a place where you can have lots of adventures, from climbing hills to sailing on the sea.

In Croatia, kids go to school for free, from the very first day until they finish high school. This helps everyone learn important things. Many grown-ups work in jobs like helping tourists, building things, or growing food.

Croatia is also becoming a leader in providing energy, which is like the power that makes our lights turn on and cars go. They have special ways to bring energy from other places to help everyone.
