Key Facts
Where is Cottonwood?
Cottonwood is a special place in California, way up north in a county called Shasta. It's like a secret spot nestled between two bigger towns, Redding and Red Bluff. If you were to drive there, it's about the same distance to either one, like walking to the park or to your friend's house.
It's also super close to another town called Anderson, just a short hop away. This location makes it a convenient place for people to live and visit.
A Town Built on Speed!
Long, long ago, before cars zoomed around, people traveled in big, bumpy stagecoaches! Cottonwood was a super important stop for these coaches. Imagine horses galloping and wheels spinning as they brought people and mail to this spot.
A town started to grow here way back in 1849, which is older than your grandparents' grandparents! The very first post office opened in 1852, so people could send and receive letters and packages.
Lots of New Neighbors!
Guess what? Cottonwood is getting more popular! A few years ago, there were about 3,316 people living there. But now, a lot more people have moved in, and the number has grown to over 6,268! That's like filling up a whole playground with new friends. This means the town is growing and changing, with more houses and more families making Cottonwood their home.
What Do People Do There?
In Cottonwood, people have different jobs to keep the town running. Some people might work on farms, growing yummy food. Others might work in shops, helping customers find what they need. Some might be teachers, helping kids learn new things, or doctors, taking care of people when they're sick. It's a place where everyone works together to make it a nice community to live in.
