Conrad II, Holy Roman Emperor

Conrad II was a super important leader a long, long time ago, from 1027 until he passed away in 1039. He was the very first emperor from a special family called the Salian emperors. They ruled for a whole century! Conrad wasn't just a king of one place; he was the boss of Germany, Italy, and even a country called Burgundy. That's like being the principal of three giant schools all at once!

Conrad wasn't born a king, but his dad was a count, which is like a powerful lord. When Conrad grew up, people really liked him. When the old emperor didn't have anyone to take over, the important leaders of the land chose Conrad to be the new emperor. He was 34 years old, and it was a big job! He had to make sure everything was fair and everyone followed the rules in his big empire.

Conrad was super smart. He made sure his kingdom was strong. He even added the whole country of Burgundy to his lands! This made his empire even bigger and more powerful. He was like a builder who kept adding amazing new rooms to a giant castle. His rule was a time when things were mostly peaceful, which meant people could live their lives without too much worry.

At first, Conrad listened to the bishops, who were like religious leaders, to help him rule.
