Key Facts
Where the Sun Shines Bright!
Imagine a place where the weather is usually sunny and warm, perfect for playing outside! Concord is like that, nestled in California, not too far from the big city of San Francisco. It's a place with rolling hills and lots of sunshine.
The weather is mostly dry and warm in the summer, like a long vacation, and cooler and a bit rainy in the winter, good for cozy indoor days. Sometimes it gets super hot, even hotter than a hot summer day at the playground!
From Old Farms to a Bustling Town!
Long ago, Concord was a land of farms where people grew yummy grapes and walnuts. Before that, Native American tribes lived here, hunting and fishing. Then, people named Salvio Pacheco started a town called Todos Santos, which means 'All Saints.' Later, it became Concord.
It grew when people moved from a nearby town that had some problems with fires and floods. Now, it's a busy city with lots of people living and working here.
Superstars and Amazing Athletes!
Concord is a place where cool people come from! Did you know the super famous actor Tom Hanks was born here? And Natalie Coughlin, who won Olympic gold medals in swimming, lived here too!
Concord is also famous for its incredible high school football team, De La Salle, which won a record-breaking number of games in a row – that's more wins than you can count on all your fingers and toes many times over! They even made a movie about them!
Learning and Fun for Everyone!
In Concord, kids go to school to learn all sorts of amazing things! There are big high schools where students can join special programs, like one that uses computers and movies to learn. There are also schools for boys and girls separately, and one of them has a football team that was so good, it's famous across the whole country!
Plus, there's a college campus where older students can keep learning.
