Cleitus the Black

Imagine a super brave soldier named Cleitus! He lived a long, long time ago, around 375 BC. That's even before your grandparents' grandparents were born!

Cleitus was a friend of a very famous king named Alexander the Great. He was a strong fighter and a loyal friend, and he was known for being a bit darker-skinned, which is why people called him 'the Black'. He was important because he was part of Alexander's amazing army.

One day, Alexander the Great was in a huge battle called the Battle of the Granicus. It was super dangerous! Suddenly, an enemy soldier was about to hurt King Alexander. But guess who jumped in? Cleitus! He was so fast and brave that he saved the king's life! It was like a superhero moment, and everyone was so thankful to Cleitus for being so courageous and protecting their leader.

Even though Cleitus was a hero, something very sad happened later. About six years after saving Alexander, they were at a party, and everyone had been drinking. Cleitus and Alexander got into a big argument. In his anger, Alexander did something he would regret forever. He accidentally killed his brave friend, Cleitus the Black. It's a reminder that even heroes can make mistakes.

Cleitus the Black is remembered because he was a loyal soldier and a true friend. He showed incredible bravery when he saved King Alexander's life. Even though his story ends sadly, it teaches us about friendship, loyalty, and how important it is to be careful with our words and actions, especially when we are upset. He was a real person who lived a dramatic life!
