Key Facts
Where the Sun Shines Bright!
Clark County is way down south in Nevada, like the very bottom of a map! It's a super big place, almost as big as the state of New Jersey. Most of the people in all of Nevada live here, which is like having almost everyone from your whole country in just one spot! The biggest city is Las Vegas, where you might see amazing shows and bright lights.
From Long Ago to Today!
A very, very long time ago, Native American people lived here. Then, other countries wanted this land. It was part of Mexico, then the United States. Later, it became part of a bigger county called Lincoln County. But in 1909, it became its own special place, Clark County! It's like a birthday for the county!
Lots of People, Lots to Do!
More people live in Clark County than in almost any other county in the whole United States! That's a LOT of people. Even though Las Vegas is the main city, many people live in areas around it that aren't part of a city. This county is famous for the dazzling Las Vegas Strip, where there are huge hotels and fun things to see.
Keeping Things Running Smoothly!
How do so many people get along? Clark County has a special group of leaders called the Clark County Commission. They make rules, like how to keep the streets clean and safe. They even have one big police department, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, that helps everyone in the city and the county stay safe.
