Cerebral Hemisphere

Your brain is like a super-computer, and its biggest part is called the cerebrum. The cerebrum is split into two halves, like two giant scoops of ice cream! These are called the left and right cerebral hemispheres. They are connected by a special bridge made of nerves, like a busy highway, so they can share information. This helps you do all sorts of amazing things, from running to reading!

The outside of each hemisphere is a wrinkly layer called the cerebral cortex. 'Cortex' is a fancy word that means 'bark of a tree'! This bark is super important because it's where all the thinking happens. It's made of tiny brain cells called neurons. Underneath the bark is a layer of white stuff, like the inside of a tree trunk, which helps send messages super fast.

Each hemisphere is divided into four main areas, like rooms in a house. There's the frontal lobe for planning and making decisions, the parietal lobe for feeling and knowing where things are, the occipital lobe for seeing, and the temporal lobe for hearing and remembering. These zones work together, making sure you can understand the world around you and react to it.

Even though the two hemispheres look almost exactly the same, they have slightly different jobs. Sometimes one side might be a little better at certain things than the other. But the most important thing is that they are always talking to each other through that nerve bridge. This teamwork is what makes your brain so powerful and helps you learn and grow every single day!
