A Night of Jellicle Cats!

Have you ever wondered what cats do when we're not looking? In the musical 'Cats,' we get to see! It’s all about a group of special cats called Jellicles.

Every year, they have a big party called the Jellicle Ball. On this night, they have to choose one cat to go up to a magical place called the Heaviside Layer. This chosen cat gets a brand new life!

It’s a night full of singing, dancing, and amazing cat costumes.

How Did This Cat Show Happen?

This amazing show started with poems written by a man named T. S. Eliot.

He wrote a book called 'Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats.' A super talented musician, Andrew Lloyd Webber, loved these poems so much that he turned them into songs. Then, other clever people helped turn those songs into a whole musical! It first opened in London, England, and then came to America.

It was so popular that it played for many, many years!

Amazing Cat Costumes and Moves!

The actors in 'Cats' don't just pretend to be cats, they become cats! They wear incredible costumes that make them look furry, with whiskers and tails. Their makeup is like a cat's face, and they move around on stage like cats do – sometimes sneaky, sometimes playful, and always graceful.

They even do amazing dances that look like a cat’s pounce or stretch. It’s like watching a whole bunch of real cats come to life on stage!

Why 'Cats' is a Superstar Show!

'Cats' has been seen by millions of people all over the world. It was on stage in London for 21 years, which is longer than many kids have been alive! On Broadway in New York, it played for 18 years. That’s a super long time! It’s one of the most famous musicals ever made and has been performed in lots of different languages, so people everywhere can enjoy the Jellicle cats' big night.
