To the north, it has a neighbor called Basilicata. Across a little bit of water to the southwest is the island of Sicily. The big blue seas here are called the Ionian Sea and the Tyrrhenian Sea.
It's a place with lots of sunshine and beautiful beaches.
A Land of Old, Old Stories!
Long, long ago, even before your grandparents' grandparents were born, people called the Ancient Greeks sailed here and built amazing cities! They called this land 'Italy' for the very first time. Famous thinkers like Pythagoras lived here.
Later, other people called the Byzantines came and brought the secret of making silk, which became super popular all over Europe! So, Calabria is like a history book with real places to see.
Castles, Mountains, and Super Clear Water!
Calabria has amazing things to explore! You can find old castles that look like they're from fairy tales, and tiny villages that have been around for hundreds of years.
