Meet the BU Giant!

Boston University, or BU for short, is like a super-sized school in the city of Boston! It's not just one building, but lots of them spread out. Think of it as a whole neighborhood dedicated to learning.

It's a place where students go to learn all sorts of cool stuff, from how to be a doctor to how to build amazing things. BU is one of the biggest places in Boston where people work, helping lots of families.

Where Did BU Come From?

A long, long time ago, in 1839, some nice people who believed in learning started BU. It wasn't in Boston at first, but in a different town called Newbury. Then, in 1869, it officially moved and got its charter in Boston. That's like getting a special permission slip to be a big school! Over the years, it grew and grew, adding more schools and colleges to teach even more subjects.

BU's Superpowers!

BU has some amazing superpowers! It has nearly 38,000 students, which is more people than can fit in a huge sports stadium! It also has over 4,000 teachers, who are like superheroes of knowledge. These teachers and students work together to discover new things. They even have a special mascot, a cute Boston Terrier named Rhett, who cheers them on!

What Happens at BU?

At BU, students can learn to become doctors, dentists, lawyers, and so much more! They have 17 different schools and colleges, each focusing on different subjects. Some students learn right by the beautiful Charles River, while others are near the medical buildings. It's a busy place where minds are always working, solving problems and dreaming up new ideas for the future.
