The Boston Massacre, or the Incident on King Street, was a violent clash in the Province of Massachusetts Bay that served as a catalyst for the American Revolutionary War.

The event was instrumentalized by Patriot leaders to galvanize public opinion against British rule, transforming a local skirmish into a symbol of colonial oppression.

The incident began when a mob harassed a sentry. Captain Thomas Preston and seven soldiers arrived to assist, but were pelted with projectiles. The soldiers fired into the crowd, killing three instantly and wounding eight, two of whom later died.
