Being a Senator is a super important job, like being the captain of a big ship that steers the country.

As a Senator, Bob Menendez had a very important job called chairing the Committee on Foreign Relations. This means he helped decide how America talked to other countries. Sadly, Bob Menendez's time as a Senator ended in a way nobody expected. He was found guilty of breaking important rules, like accepting gifts when he shouldn't have and helping other countries too much. He was the first Senator to be found guilty of acting like a spy for another country! Because of this, he had to leave his job and was sent to prison.
