Key Facts
Why Were They Fighting Anyway?
Long, long ago, England and France were like grumpy neighbors who kept arguing over who owned what. This big fight was called the Hundred Years' War. For a while, they stopped fighting, but then King Henry V of England decided it was time to start again!
He wanted to claim land in France. So, he gathered his brave soldiers and sailed across the sea to France, ready for an adventure, or maybe a battle!
Uh Oh, Too Many French Knights!
King Henry and his soldiers marched through France, but sadly, many got sick. Their army got smaller and smaller. When they tried to go home, a HUGE French army was waiting! It was like a tiny soccer team facing a whole stadium full of players! The French army had way, way more soldiers, and they were all ready to fight. It looked like the English were in big trouble.
Super Archers to the Rescue!
But the English had a secret weapon: super archers! Most of King Henry's army were archers with longbows, which were like super-powered slingshots. They could shoot arrows really, really far and fast.
When the French knights charged, the archers let loose a storm of arrows! The mud made it hard for the knights to move, and the arrows rained down, making it a surprise victory for the smaller English army!
A Victory to Remember!
Even though they were outnumbered, the English won a super important battle! It made everyone in England cheer and feel proud. It was such a famous win that people still talk about it today, and it was even made into a play by a famous writer named William Shakespeare. It shows that even when things look tough, cleverness and bravery can win the day!
