High Up in the Mountains!

Imagine a city nestled high in the mountains, way up in the sky! That's Bamyan, in the middle of Afghanistan. It's so high, it's like being on top of a very, very tall building.

Bamyan is the capital, which means it's the main city of its province. It's a place where people have lived for a super long time, surrounded by amazing nature. Think of it as a cozy spot tucked away in a beautiful valley.

The Land of Giant Buddhas!

Once upon a time, Bamyan was famous for two HUGE statues of Buddha carved right into the side of a cliff! They were so tall, they were like giant skyscrapers. Sadly, they were destroyed a long time ago. But even though the statues are gone, the cliffs are still there, and people remember how amazing they were. It’s like a storybook place with a bit of a sad ending, but still full of wonder.

Art Hidden in Caves!

Guess what? Deep inside caves near Bamyan, explorers found some of the OLDEST paintings in the whole world! These paintings are made with oil and are thousands of years old. Long, long ago, many monks lived in caves here and painted these pictures. It shows that people have always loved making art, even way back then. It’s like finding a secret art gallery hidden by time!

A Crossroads for Everyone!

Bamyan is like a special meeting spot where different cultures came together. For many years, traders and travelers passed through this valley. People from faraway places like Greece, China, and India brought their ideas and traditions.

This made Bamyan a very interesting place, full of different sights and sounds. It's like a busy playground where kids from all over the world come to share their games.
