Where in the World is Augsburg?
Augsburg is a super old city in Germany, a country far away in Europe. It's like a neighbor to Munich, which is a bigger city you might have heard of. Augsburg sits in a part of Germany called Bavaria, which is famous for yummy pretzels and fun festivals.
The weather there is usually nice, with warm summers perfect for playing outside and snowy winters for building snowmen. It's a place with lots of green spaces and a river that flows through it, making it a pretty and lively spot.
A City Built by Romans!
Guess what? Augsburg is one of the oldest cities in all of Germany! It was built by the Romans way, way back in 15 BC.
That's over 2,000 years ago, even before knights and castles were common! The Romans called it Augusta Vindelicorum. Over many, many years, it grew and changed, becoming a really important place for trade and ideas.
It even has a special part called the 'Altstadt' which means 'old town' and it's still there today, looking like it did a long time ago.
Super Rich Families and Cool Inventions!
Long ago, Augsburg was home to some very rich families, like the Fuggers and Welser families. They were like the bankers of their time, helping people with money. One of them, Jakob Fugger, built something amazing called the Fuggerei.
It's the oldest social housing in the world, meaning it's a place where people can live without paying much rent, and it's still used today! Augsburg also has a special 'Water Management System' that UNESCO thinks is so cool, it's a World Heritage Site!

Today, Augsburg is a busy city where lots of people live and work. It's a university town, which means many students go there to learn new things. People in Augsburg speak German, but some might also speak a local Swabian dialect.
